VERDIGRIS BLOG
Copper has always been a fascination in my world. I collect many things made of copper.
All of my etchings are executed from copper plates.
In 2022 I found one of my unused copper etching plates stored without a protective wrapping. It was covered with verdigris. I created an artwork embellished with copper wire using that plate.
Nature is very slow to create verdigris. I made a recipe to execute my own verdigris.
I coated it on copper plates, copper foil, wire, copper fragments and paper.
Several of the mixed media pieces in the series have been printed onto the plate itself.
One work led to another using etching inks, paints, dry pigments, and copper gravel that number 60 VERDIGRIS artworks to date.
